This Martini is a slight variation of the famous Duke's Martini. If you are at The Dukes Hotel (35 St James's Place, London) and you ask for a Martini; it will come table side poured from a bottle of frozen gin. No bitters, just a dash of dry vermouth to "clean the carpet" and frozen gin. It will then have an organic lemon from the Amalfi coast peeled and squeezed over the top. I do mine slightly different but all in all in the same vein. My favorite way to go about this drink but so very potent so I limit my consumption to special occasions. Also no measuring! Two of these and most people say I can be as charming as Alessandro Palazzi himself.
In a small (~90ml) chilled cocktail glass add:
A coating of Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth and leave it in the glass.
1 Dash Regans Orange #6
Top off the glass with Plymouth Gin that has been in the freezer for a day or more.
Squeeze a lemon peel over the top and hold on for dear life.
To your health!
